Valeo PT Patient Plan for Success

I want to Welcome you to our clinic and give you some important facts and tips that help to increase your chances of success in your therapy program.

We’ll start with…

1.  Pain relief is only a beginning.

Once you start therapy, you will see that the pain will ease rather quickly. But I want to warn you, don’t fall into the trap of thinking you are done and that everything is well. It’s important to understand that tissue, muscles, joints and nerves take time and therapy to fully heal.

It can be tempting to think you are ready to go but that’s when re-injuries and problems can often occur.

It’s sort of like antibiotics for an infection. As soon as you start, the antibiotics make you feel better. But it’s important not to stop the regimen. If you stop prematurely, the infection often comes back even worse than it was at the start.

Sticking to the program outlined by your therapist is paramount to reaching your goals and returning back to life without limitation. Missing appointments or stopping treatment is not advised. So if you have scheduling conflicts, or a busy schedule, speak with your therapist today so you can get on a regimen and plan that is right for you.

2.  The Compounding Effect.

Therapy treatments have what’s called a “Compounding Effect”. And what that means is that one treatment builds on top of the prior one. This is what leads to maximum improvement and progress. If you allow too much time to go by before the next treatment session, the benefits can wear-off. If you miss a session, take a layoff, or deviate from your program, you will most likely lose out on the benefits of this compounding effect, and it can reduce your chances of success.

It’s important to stay consistent and adhere to the entire program outlined by your therapist.

3.  Be interactive and take charge.

We find that the patients who do best are the ones who take their program seriously. They get involved. They inquire about their progress. They are aware of their measurements of improvement. They ask for strategies on how they can empower themselves at home or at work. And they get involved and take charge of their therapy program. They don’t merely go through the motions. Remember, it’s your body, your health, your life.

I hope you found these tips helpful. These items can significantly help you be more successful!
